On October 13, in celebration of Children’s Day, we hosted a special live event to launch the animated short film “Gaspar Goes Fishing”, a production inspired by giant otters and the Pantanal. The livestream took place on our YouTube channel and brought together team members and guests for a conversation filled with curiosity, emotion and learning.
During the live event, participants had the opportunity to explore behind the scenes of the animation and learn how the story of Gaspar, a curious and adventurous giant otter, was developed to bring people closer to the Pantanal’s reality and to highlight the importance of protecting its rivers and living in harmony with nature.
In addition to the screening of the full short film, the event featured team members João Guerreiro and Gabriel Brutti; they shared their experiences in environmental education initiatives and emphasized the role of communication in raising awareness about the species. The session also featured Caroline Leuchtenberger, author of the book that inspired the short film, and Letícia Graciano, the book’s illustrator, as well as a special participation of children who sent their questions about the animation, the book, and Gaspar’s adventures.
The animated short is an adaptation of the book “Gaspar Goes Fishing”, available on our website. The book can be obtained through a donation of R$ 35,00; all proceeds go directly toward research and conservation efforts for the species.
More than just a charming story, “Gaspar Goes Fishing” is an educational tool that aims to foster empathy and environmental awareness among children and adults; inspiring new perspectives on the wildlife and ecosystems of the Pantanal.
