The year 2023 was full of achievements that strengthened our commitment to the conservation of the giant otter and its ecosystem. Throughout the year, we engaged in a series of activities that enabled significant progress in scientific research, environmental education, science communication, and sustainable tourism, bringing us even closer to our purpose: to transform the giant otter into a symbol of a balanced ecosystem and promote human coexistence with the species and the associated biodiversity.
We conducted population monitoring, carried out scientific research, interviewed communities, and disseminated new knowledge through the publication of articles, PhD thesis, participation in national and international events, and through social media. We invested in the development of more sustainable tourism through workshops, lectures, and new partnerships. We took actions in schools, teaching values and fundamental knowledge to promote human coexistence with the giant otter, and also participated in conservation planning and the development of public policies.
However, our efforts would not have been possible without the continuous support of our partners, collaborators, volunteers, and supporters. We express our gratitude to all who joined us on this journey. We renew our commitment to continue working for the conservation of the giant otter in 2024. Together, we will build a more sustainable future where human coexistence with the giant otter is successfully achieved!
